One minute for a show intro..?
Do you know how long a minute is? Well it's 60 seconds. Try timing it on a watch. Students so often don't appreciate just how quickly or how long it takes to do something - and that can be a real problem when we start planning a running order. A one minute show intro is a long, long time.
But it's a minor point because the girls are well on their way with a plan for the next Heat Rays FM broadcasts...and they've got one eye on Valentines Day...

When Liz came to Heat Rays…

Heat Rays FM is back in December. And that means training dozens of young students from scratch to get ready for another amazing series of programmes. But before all that. One of the the UK's leading figures in education, Liz Reid of the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust, paid a visit to Monks' Dyke Technology College, Lincolnshire, the home of Heat Rays. She gave us her thoughts on the importance of communication in schools today and the future...

But what is a programme..?

Heat Rays is a student radio station in Lincolnshire, UK. Occasionally it broadcasts over FM and involves the surrounding community. But this time, students at Monks' Dyke Technology College in Louth, Lincolnshire are broadcasting internally on the intranet - as well as getting ready for a few podcasts. Most of the 17 students have never done anything like this before - and they have one day to get ready... What are the chances of this going wrong?
